Overnight Russian drone and missile strikes targeting seven regions across Ukraine have left at least four people dead and another 70 wounded, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Sunday.

The barrage of Russian strikes, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said had lasted for more than 12 hours and consisted of some 500 attack drones and more than 40 missiles, primarily targeted Kyiv, the southern regions of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolayiv, and Odesa, the northern regions of Sumy and Chernihiv, and the western Khmelnytskyi region.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, six different city districts were hit during Russia’s “massive attack” overnight, leaving at least four people dead and 14 others injured. Several residential buildings, a government medical facility, a kindergarten, and other non-residential buildings were damaged in the strikes, he added.

In southeastern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, a high-rise residential building was damaged, leaving over 31 people injured, including three children, one of whom showed signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said on Sunday morning, while also warning residents to remain in bomb shelters due to the continuing threat of guided aerial bombs.

In the southwestern Odesa region, Governor Oleg Kiper accused Russia of committing “another war crime” against civilians on Sunday, saying that airstrikes had damaged or destroyed several pieces of civilian infrastructure, including a workshop and a winery, from which 50 employees had to be evacuated.

“This despicable attack took place at the end of the UN General Assembly week, and this is how Russia is declaring its real position. Moscow wants to continue fighting and killing and deserves only the harshest pressure from the world,” Zelensky said in a social media post on Sunday.

“Anyone who wants peace should support President Trump’s efforts and stop all Russian [energy] imports. The time for decisive action is long overdue, and we count on a strong response from the US, Europe, the G7, and the G20,” Zelensky added.

“Last night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike using long-range, air- and sea-based precision weapons and attack drones against Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as military airfield infrastructure,” the Russian Defence Ministry said on Sunday, according to Russian state-owned news agency TASS.

“The strike’s objectives were achieved, and all designated targets were hit,” the Russian Defence Ministry continued.
